This pattern stitch is reversible and created only with simple knit and purl stitches. The garter stitches run diagonally in the other direction on the wrong side against a background of reverse stockinette.
Cast on a multiple of 8 stitches.
Row 1 and all wrong side rows: Purl.
Row 2: * Purl 4, knit 4; repeat from * to end.
Row 4: * Purl 4, knit 4; repeat from * to end.
Row 6: Knit 2, * purl 4, knit 4; rep from * to last 6 stitches, purl 4, knit 2.
Row 8: Knit 2, * purl 4, knit 4; rep from * to last 6 stitches, purl 4, knit 2.
Row 10: * Knit 4, purl 4; repeat from * to end.
Row 12: * Knit 4, purl 4; repeat from * to end
Row 14: Purl 2, * knit 4, purl 4, rep from * to last 6 stitches, knit 4, purl 2.
Row 16: Purl 2, * knit 4, purl 4, rep from * to last 6 stitches, knit 4, purl 2.
Repeat rows 1  - 16.
