I'm happy to share a new stitch called Alternating Welted Leaf that can be easily knit with just knit and purl stitches. It's a very simple stitch to learn.

  • Cast on a multiple of 8 stitches
  • 10-row repeat.

    • Row 1 - right side: Knit.
    Row 2: Purl
    Row 3: Knit 4, purl 4.
    Row 4: Knit 3, * purl 4, knit 4; rep from * to last 5 sts, purl 4, knit 1.
    Row 5: Purl 2, * knit 4, purl 4; rep from * to last 6 sts, knit 4, purl 2.
    Row 6: Knit 1, * purl 4, knit 4; rep from * to last 7 sts, purl 4, knit 3.
    Row 7: Knit 3, * purl 4, knit 4; rep from * to last 5 sts, purl 4, knit 1.
    Row 8: Purl 2, * knit 4, purl 4; rep from * to last 6 sts, knit 4, purl 2.
    Row 9: Knit 1, * purl 4, knit 4; rep from * to last 7 sts, purl 4, knit 3.
    Row 10: Purl 4, knit 4.
    Repeat Rows 1 - 10.
