Cast on a multiple of 12 stitches, plus 6.
Row 1- right side: Knit 6, * (purl 1, knit 1) 3 times, knit 6; rep from * to end.
Row 2: Purl 6, * (knit 1, purl 1) 3 times, purl 6; rep from * to end.
Repeat Rows 1 - 2 three times more.
Row 9: (Purl 1, knit 1) 3 times, * knit 6, (purl 1, knit 1) 3 times; rep from * to end.
Row 10: (Knit 1, purl 1) 3 times, * purl 6, (knit 1, purl 1) 3 times; rep from * to end.
Repeat Rows 9 - 10 three times more.
Repeat Rows 1 - 16.
